| 1SD | Gen. 2:7 | What is man? Man (a living being or soul) consists of a body and the breath of life. The man became a soul, man does not possess a soul. A soul is a living being or a person (Gen 12:5 uses the same Hebrew word) |
| 2SD | Eccl. 12:7 | What happens at death? The body returns to dust and the (spirit) breath of life returns to God. |
| 3SD | John 5:28,29 | Where are the dead? Jesus said that both the righteous and the wicked are in the grave. |
| 4SD | Psalms 146:4 | What are the dead doing? Can they think? |
| 5SD | Eccl. 9:5,6,10 | Are the dead aware of anything? |
| 6SD |
John 11:11-14 |
What word did Jesus like to use to refer to death? Sleep is a perfect description of what happens at death. |
| 7SD | 1 Cor. 15:51 | How long are the dead in the grave? When does the perishable body become imperishable? At the last trumpet when Jesus comes. (see also 1Thes. 4:15-17) |
| 8SD | John 6:40 | How can God raise him up on the last day if he goes to heaven at death? |
| 9SD | Luke 23:43 | The comma is misplaced. How do we know? |
| 10SD | John 20:17 | Jesus had not yet gone to paradise by Sunday, therefore he could not have been in paradise with the thief on Friday. |
| 11SD | 2 Cor 5:1-8 | Notice here that paul is not wanting to go naked, (without a body). He desires to leave his earthly body and be clothed with his new heavenly body. He already said in 1 cor. 15:51-54, doesn’t happen until the last trumpet. No mention of death is made in this passage. He is simply saying that he is titred of this old world, as long as he is in his old earhtly body, he is not present with Jesus. He wants to be with Jesus in his new body. |
| 12SD | Rev. 1:18 | Jesus is the only one who has all answers to death and we can trust what He has clearly taught us in his word. |
